Definitions
Iconic Central West Landscape or Landmark
For the purpose of our competition, Central West encompasses the following areas:
- Bathurst Region
- Blayney Shire
- Cabonne Shire
- Cowra Shire
- Dubbo Shire
- Hay Shire
- Lachlan Shire
- Lithgow City
- Mudgee Shire
- Oberon Shire
- Orange City
- Parkes Shire
- Weddin Shire
- And any other shire that a participating club is from.
Iconic – prominent, well-known, notable, famous, renowned, famed.
Landscape – natural scenery with land and sky-based elements displayed in a pictorial fashion. May include evidence of man, people and/or animals.
Landmark – an object or feature of a landscape or town that is easily seen and recognised from a distance, especially one that enables someone to establish their location.
Native Australian Flora
Those plants which have originated and evolved on the Australian continent.
Native Australian Fauna
All of the animal life present including birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles which have originated and evolved on the Australian continent. Images that directly or indirectly show any human activity threatening the life or welfare of a living organism are not acceptable.
Still Life
A genre of photography used for the depiction of inanimate subject matter, typically a small group of objects. As arrangement of inanimate objects whether natural, manmade or a combination of both in an artificial or natural setting.
Monochrome
Any photography containing shades of only one colour (including black and white). If toning is carried out, it must be over the total photograph, partial toning and/or the addition of extra colour is not acceptable in the monochrome section.
Sport/Action
A photo featuring a person or people participating in some form of sporting event or an image depicting a person or people doing something in a non-leisurely manner eg sports, an emergency, at play or at work.
Macrophotography
An image where the subject is the same size or larger on the sensor. This constitutes an image ratio of 1:1 up to 5:1.
Colour
Any image that is not a monochrome. It includes a monochrome photograph that has been partially toned or has had colour added.
AI & Photoshopped images will not be accepted
This means that any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement is not permitted. No techniques that add, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Stitched images are not permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content, or without altering the content of the original scene, are permitted including HDR, focus stacking and dodging/burning. Techniques that remove elements added by the camera, such as dust spots, digital noise, and film scratches, are permitted. All permitted adjustments must appear natural. Colour images can be converted to grey-scale monochrome.
